Knobworld is an intimate modern recording studio nestled in the hills of Echo Park in Los Angeles. For the past 20 years we have hosted an incredible variety of recording projects, from acoustic singer-songwriters and rock bands to modern operas, jazz ensembles, film scores and electronic music. We strive to help people make music in a welcoming atmosphere that feels like home, and where everything technical just... works.
about the studio
Knobworld, founded by seasoned composer and producer Jim Lang, is a family owned and operated studio tucked in a hillside of Echo Park. It was originally designed by electronic musician and composer Dr. Patrick Gleeson, who was the owner and designer of the legendary Different Fur studio in San Francisco. In 2021 Knobworld celebrated twenty years of music making. Check out its rich history below.
The space
Over two floors you’ll find two different recording environments and a large comfortable living room where you can relax, make some food, have an espresso or a cocktail. Or hang out on our shady upstairs deck with views of the San Gabriel mountains. Work hard, then chill well.
